ELSTA's logo - a boomerang - was chosen because of its symbolism: our action or inaction in meeting the challenges presented by the changing demographics in Ireland will rebound on us as a nation – positively or negatively.
The choice is ours. ELSTA is here to help in whatever way in can – it needs you to participate.

English Language Support Teachers' Association (ELSTA) was founded in 2006 in response to the growing number of international students needing linguistic and cultural support in Ireland. It aims to support English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL) teachers in a number of ways:
Through establishing national, regional and local networks via ELSTA branches
Through the website which can become a LOCAL/NATIONAL/GLOBAL discussion forum and which will be host to talks/lectures given at ELSTA events
Through inviting experts in the areas of teaching ESOL, and interculturalism, to upskill teachers in those areas.
It is envisaged that there will be local branches run by local teachers which may tap into local needs and share examples of good practice. ELSTA is supported financially by Teacher Professional Networks (TPNs). It also raises funds through its membership fees.
